Damien Macq founded "FAJEL Consultants" in 2008. He held senior R&D and general management positions with various semiconductor and telecom players (start-up and Tier1), in Europe and the USA. He was Senior Director in charge for WLAN products and led the cellular Connectivity IP development and licensing strategy (GNSS, BT, FM, NFC) at ST-Ericsson. Before that, he was with AMI Semiconductor, where he managed the development of various ASSP for automotive, and then launched and led the Communication High Voltage Products business unit, he initiated the development of a leading Power over Ethernet product line adopted by Broadcom, as well as other power management devices and Voice over IP products. He was Professor and head of the Microelectronics Unit at the “Faculte Polytechnique de Mons”, Belgium, and consulted for privately-held start-up developing semiconductor solutions for telecommunications (Icera Semiconductor in UK, Massana in Spain…). He was Vice President of IC Design Engineering at GlobespanVirata, Redbank, NJ, where he and his teams contributed to the worldwide leadership of GlobespanVirata in DSL. He held also multiple Senior Engineering positions in Europe and the U.S. with Alcatel, where he led the developments of the ADSL chipset (DynaMiTe).
He published around 30 papers in books, journals and conferences. As inventor or co-inventor, he was awarded 6 patents in the GSM and DSL area.
Damien holds an MSEE degree and a PhD in Microelectronics from the UCL (Belgium), he graduated from the Stanford Business School (SEP program). He was Chairman of the IEEE Benelux section between 2005 and 2007.
